Accommodation

Trip / Short term accommodation
If you are a visiting Brussels just for a couple of days it is easy to get a room because there are plenty hotels and hostels in Brussels. However, these accommodations are mostly of high standard and expensive. If your budget is reduced you should better book a bed in a youth hostel or in an aparthotel.
Of course you better book in advance because of the times of international conferences a lot of rooms are needed. You can look on our hotels page or the hostels page to look and book a room for a few nights.

Student’s accommodation
If you want to stay longer to work or study, there’s a growing availability of student rooms, called ‘kot’ in the centre of Brussels:
In this centre you’ll find Quartier Latin, a student’s area with good, payable student’s houses. It’s not very easy to find a room but if you are satisfied with less, you will find something here. Most student rooms are shared by more students, everyone has its own sleeping room, but you have to share the kitchen and bathroom most of the times. Look at Quartier Latin Brussels to find a room what’s called ‘Kot’ in Belgium.

In Brussels it’s possible to rent an apartment with other student friends, its more cosy than student houses, because you’re with less people. You have your own kitchen and bathroom together with your friends. You can find an Independent landlord by a classified hanging at the window, or you can go to an agency. Other sources are the newspapers like ‘Vlan’, ‘De Streekkrant,’ and advertisements in kiosks, supermarkets and even in your university. However the best way to find a room is to integrate into the students live of Brussels.

Activities in Brussels. Sports, socialising, and classes.

Brussels offers plenty of options for visitors who have overindulged in fine chocolate and need to lose a few kilos. There are excellent jogging routes through beautiful greenways such as Parc de Bruxelles and Parc du Cinquantenaire, as well as public pools for swimming. But walking is the best way to get to know the city. There are also indoor activities available in town, from gyms to courts set aside for squash and tennis.

Come winter, head to the Grand Place to experience one of the world's most picturesque ice skating rinks, set up for just a few weeks in December. The hilly Ardennes in southeastern Belgium are the country's winter playground; cross-country skiing is the main attraction.

For students there are also a lot of facilities to participate in your favourite sport. If you’re studying at an university or high school, you should check if there’s a footballteam or other sportteam. Just check the link in the section outdoor/sports where you can find a list of all sportclubs

Read about the biggest football club in Belgium.
Please don’t hesitate to tell us more if you have more suggestions for activities in Brussels.
